Objectives

Mentoring
Mentoring our youth is the most important component of the programs that are supported by the 100 Black Men of Stamford. We aim to guide youth in life experiences that help them to develop a positive self-perception and self-respect, establish and pursue life-long goals, promote healthy personal relationships and encourage excellence in education. To that extent, following are the key programs with a Mentoring focus:
  • Freshman Initiative – Roadmap to Success
  • Chess Program
  • Robotics Program
Education
Education is key underpinning for all programs supported by the 100 Black Men of Stamford, Inc. We engage in structured activities that impact the intellectual, emotional, behavioral and spiritual development of our youth. Our objective is to present the correlates of achievement, which are most consistently identified with educational excellence. The following programs are currently being supported:
  • Freshman Initiative – Roadmap to Success
Health & Wellness
Health & Wellness The 100 Black Men of Stamford’s Health & Wellness programs offer to raise awareness of health concerns affecting African American men, their families and their communities, and to identify partnerships that will assist in reducing health disparities in the African American community. Our programs will focus on engaging members of the community in activities that promote exercise and physical well-being. Example program activities include:
  • Community Health Fair
  • Men’s Day Health Screening
  • Youth Summer Tennis Camp
  • Golf Tournament
Economic Development
The Economic Development programs that are provided by the 100 Black Men of Stamford are intended to encourage and empower the African American community to become financially literate and economically self-sufficient through the development and facilitation of programmatic initiatives, which address the educational and technical needs of our youth and those of the broader community. Existing and planned programs include:
  • Financial Awareness High School Program
  • Financial Awareness Family Program
